Specifications
CS101-8 at a Glance
Connectivity
Eight 1GbE RJ45 access ports plus two 1G SFP uplinks, with a
20 Gbps switching capacity. Compact desktop chassis that also wall mounts, so it fits a
counter, a shelf, or a small closet.
Management
Manage it your way: Sophos Central in the cloud, the local web interface, CLI, or
SNMP. Web, CLI, and SNMP come with the hardware. Central management is unlocked by the Support and
Services subscription.
Control & Segmentation
Lock down the access layer with up to 256 VLANs in use at once, an 8K
MAC address table, 802.1X authentication, ACLs, and QoS. Deactivate unused ports or restrict access per
port.
Power over Ethernet
The CS101-8 is the non-PoE model. If you need to power access points, IP phones, or
cameras over the cable, step up to the CS101-8FP or a 200 or 1000 Series model.

fit for your site. If you want a second opinion, our Sophos-certified team is a click away.
No. The CS101-8 is the non-PoE model in the 100 Series and does not deliver power
over its Ethernet ports. If you need to power access points, IP phones, or cameras over the cable,
choose the CS101-8FP (full PoE) or step up to a 200 or 1000 Series model. Not sure how much power
budget you need? Ask our team and we'll size it with you.
Your switch works out of the box using local web, CLI, or SNMP management, which are
included with the hardware along with a limited lifetime warranty. The Support and Services
subscription is what unlocks cloud management in Sophos Central, plus firmware updates, 24x7 support,
and advanced RMA replacement. Without an active subscription, Sophos Central drops to read-only and
firmware updates and phone support stop. For most Sophos shops, the subscription is worth it.
Yes. You can run the switch entirely from the local web interface, the command line,
or SNMP, all of which are included in the purchase price. Sophos Central adds cloud management,
virtual stacking, and Active Threat Response, but it is optional if you prefer to manage the switch
locally.
Yes, and that is the point of buying Sophos across the stack. When it is registered
in Sophos Central, the CS101-8 sits in the same console as your Sophos firewalls and AP6 access
points. With an active support subscription you also get Active Threat Response, which can
automatically isolate a compromised host across your Sophos switches and access points. One vendor,
one view, less multi-vendor guesswork.
Yes. This is a smart managed access switch, so you get up to 256 VLANs in use at
once, 802.1X authentication, IP and MAC ACLs, DHCP snooping, and QoS to prioritize traffic like voice.
You can also shut off unused ports to shrink your attack surface at the edge.
The CS101-8 hardware ships with a Sophos limited lifetime warranty. Adding a Support
and Services subscription upgrades you to advanced RMA, which ships a replacement unit ahead of time
so a hardware fault does not take your site offline. Want the warranty details in writing before you
buy? Just ask.
