The 641 also includes 8 internal antennas versus 6 on the 621, and features an updated scanning radio rated at 802.11ax 1x1. Both models share the same 2.5 GbE uplink and PoE+ power requirement.

Yes. The SonicWave 641 includes an integrated BLE/Bluetooth 5.0 radio. This supports IoT device onboarding, BLE beacon scanning, and proximity-based use cases without requiring a separate BLE gateway. The BLE radio operates independently of the Wi-Fi radios and does not consume bandwidth from the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz client-serving radios.

The SonicWave 641 requires SonicOS 7.1.1 or higher on a connected SonicWall firewall to enable firewall-managed mode. In this configuration, the firewall applies deep packet inspection, content filtering, application control, geo-IP filtering, botnet blocking, and Capture ATP to all traffic passing through the AP. If no firewall is present, the AP can still be managed through SonicWall Wireless Network Manager in the cloud.

Yes. The SonicWave 641 is designed primarily for ceiling mounting but also supports wall mounting, shelf deployment, and desktop use. It is plenum rated for installation inside enclosed ceiling spaces such as drop-ceiling tiles in commercial environments.
