Stackable Packs

Licenses are sold in 5-user and 100-user stackable packs compatible with the SMA 6210, 7210, and 8200v. A 5,000-user pack is available for the SMA 7210 and 8200v only. Purchase the count that matches your current peak usage and stack additional packs as your workforce grows, without replacing or re-provisioning the appliance.

Concurrent vs. Named Users

Concurrent user licenses count active sessions. If you have 500 licensed concurrent users, up to 500 people can be connected at the same time, but your total user roster can be much larger. Named user licenses are tied to specific accounts and are well suited for environments where a defined group of individuals needs access regardless of session count.

Pooled Option

Organizations running multiple SMA 1000 appliances under Central Management Server (CMS) can pool user licenses across all managed nodes. CMS allocates capacity dynamically based on real-time session demand, so a site that is quiet overnight can share its licensed capacity with a time zone that is at peak during those same hours.

Subscription Terms and Support

SMA User License subscriptions are available in 1, 2, and 3 year terms. All subscriptions include 24/7 technical support coverage. Longer terms lower the per-user annual cost. Licenses are managed through MySonicWall and apply immediately after registration.

What are SonicWall SMA User Licenses?

SonicWall SMA User Licenses set the maximum number of concurrent or named user sessions allowed on an SMA 6210, 7210, or 8200v appliance. The base appliance ships without user licenses. You purchase the user count that matches your deployment and stack additional license packs as your workforce grows.

What is the difference between concurrent and named user licenses?

Concurrent user licenses count the number of active sessions at any given moment. If you have 100 concurrent licenses, up to 100 users can be connected simultaneously, but you can have a much larger roster of registered users who connect at different times. Named user licenses are tied to specific user accounts, so each licensed account can connect regardless of the concurrent session count.

Can I add more user licenses after the initial purchase?

Yes. SMA User Licenses are stackable. You can purchase additional 5-user or 100-user packs at any time and apply them to your appliance through MySonicWall. The new capacity is available immediately after registration. There is no need to re-image or reconfigure the appliance when adding licenses.

Do SMA User License subscriptions include technical support?

Yes. All SMA User License subscriptions include 24/7 technical support for the term of the subscription. Support covers firmware updates, configuration assistance, and troubleshooting. When a subscription renews or a new term is purchased, support coverage continues without interruption.

Which appliances are SMA User Licenses compatible with?

The 5-user and 100-user stackable license packs are compatible with the SMA 6210, SMA 7210, and SMA 8200v. The 5,000-user pack is available for the SMA 7210 and SMA 8200v only, reflecting the higher maximum session capacity of those models.
