The SonicWall SMA 7210 is the top-tier physical appliance in the SMA 1000 Series. It is a 1U rack-mount secure access gateway that supports up to 10,000 concurrent user sessions at 5 Gbps SSL VPN throughput. It targets large enterprises and MSSPs that need carrier-grade remote access capacity in a single appliance.

The SMA 7210 supports five times more concurrent users than the SMA 6210 (10,000 versus 2,000) and delivers nearly four times the throughput (5.0 Gbps versus 1.3 Gbps). It also adds two 10Gb SFP+ uplinks and dual hot-swappable power supplies not present on the 6210. For organizations with a projected peak under 2,000 sessions the 6210 is typically better value. At 2,000 users and above, a single 7210 is usually less expensive than two 6210 appliances in an HA pair.

Yes. The SMA 7210 supports Active/Passive and Active/Active high availability. In Active/Active mode sessions are distributed across both units and firmware can be upgraded on one node at a time without dropping connections. With Central Management Server, you can also build multi-site active-active clusters that share session state globally.

Yes. The SonicWall Central Management Server (CMS) manages physical SMA 6210 and 7210 appliances alongside SMA 8200v virtual instances in a single mesh of up to 100 nodes. CMS pools user licenses dynamically across the entire cluster, so capacity follows real demand rather than being locked to a single site.

Like all SMA 1000 appliances, the SMA 7210 ships without user licenses. You purchase stackable SMA User Licenses separately in 5-user, 100-user, or 5,000-user packs. The 5,000-user pack is available for the SMA 7210 and 8200v only. Capture ATP for SMA is an optional subscription add-on for cloud-based file scanning.
