SonicWall Switch 14-48.
High-Density 48-Port Gigabit Switching with 10G Uplinks.
The SonicWall Switch 14-48 delivers 48 x 1G copper ports and four 10G SFP+ uplinks in a single 1U rackmount
chassis, giving you the port density of a large wiring closet without sacrificing switching performance. At
176 Gbps of total switching capacity, a 32K MAC table, and a 2M packet buffer, this switch handles the full
traffic load of a medium to large office floor. With SonicWall firewall integration, every port is part of a
unified security fabric.

Specifications
Switch 14-48 at a Glance
Performance
176 Gbps non-blocking switching capacity with a 32K MAC address table and 2M packet buffer. Four 10G
SFP+ uplinks move aggregated traffic to your core at 10 times the speed of a 1G uplink, preventing
uplink congestion even at full port utilization.
Connectivity
48 x 1G RJ45 copper ports for wired workstations, servers, printers, and other devices in a single 1U
chassis. Supports VLAN tagging for up to 4,096 VLANs, 802.3ad link aggregation, jumbo frames, and IGMP
snooping for multicast traffic.
Management
Integrates with SonicWall firewalls and Wireless Network Manager for unified management, zero-touch
deployment, and centralized VLAN configuration. Standalone management via web GUI, CLI, SSH, SNMP, and
syslog is also supported. Includes a serial console port (RJ45).
Power and Form Factor
60W fixed power supply (100-240 VAC). Maximum power consumption: 44W. One cooling fan. 1U rackmount
design: 440 x 260 x 44mm, 3.2 kg. MTBF rated at over 222,000 hours. No PoE; for PoE+ on all 48 ports,
see the Switch 14-48-FPoE.
Need PoE+ on Your 48-Port Switch?
The Switch 14-48-FPoE delivers 802.3at PoE+ on all 48 ports with 740W of total budget, using the same 4 x
10G SFP+ uplinks in a 1U footprint.
The Switch 14-48 is best suited for medium to large office floors, wiring closets,
and data center access layers where a high port count and fast uplinks are needed but PoE is not
required. Common use cases include connecting wired workstations, servers, printers, VoIP adapters
with their own power supplies, and other devices that plug into their own power outlets. It works well
as a distribution or aggregation switch in a tiered network design.
The Switch 14-48 supports up to 4,096 VLANs using 802.1Q tagging, allowing you to
segment traffic by department, device type, or compliance zone. Voice VLANs prioritize IP phone
traffic, guest VLANs isolate visitor access, and MAC or IP-based ACLs further restrict port-level
access. When paired with a SonicWall firewall, inter-VLAN routing and security policies are enforced
at the firewall, giving you granular control over east-west traffic.
The Switch 14-48 does not support physical stacking with a dedicated stacking cable.
However, multiple switch units can be daisy-chained via a SonicWall firewall in managed mode, where
the firewall acts as the control point for all connected switches. For very large deployments, the 10G
SFP+ uplinks can be used to connect multiple switches to a core switch or distribution layer for a
hierarchical network design.
The Switch 14-48 includes 802.1X port-based authentication, MAC Authentication Bypass
(MAB) for non-802.1X-capable devices, IP and MAC access control lists, DHCP snooping, port security,
port isolation, and Denial of Service (DoS) attack prevention. When managed by a SonicWall firewall,
the firewall's IPS, application control, gateway anti-virus, and botnet filtering policies apply to
all traffic passing through it, extending protection to every connected device.
The Switch 14-48 has no PoE capability and uses a 60W power supply drawing only 44W
maximum, making it a lean, cost-effective option for environments where devices have their own power.
The Switch 14-48-FPoE adds 802.3at PoE+ across all 48 ports with 740W of total PoE budget, a 900W
power supply, and three cooling fans to manage the higher thermal load. Choose the FPoE if you need to
power access points, cameras, or phones from the switch.
