The Switch 12-8-PoE provides a total PoE power budget of 55 watts across all 8 copper
ports. Each port supports 802.3af with a maximum of 15.4W per port. Not all ports can draw 15.4W
simultaneously; actual distribution is subject to the 55W system limit. For higher per-port power (up
to 30W per port), consider the Switch 12-10-FPoE with its 802.3at support and 130W budget.
The Switch 12-8-PoE can power any 802.3af-compliant device, including SonicWave
wireless access points, standard VoIP phones, small IP cameras, and other low-to-mid power network
devices. For devices that require 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30W, such as high-performance APs or PTZ
cameras), the Switch 12-10-FPoE is the better choice.
Yes. The Switch 12-8-PoE supports Time Management Options for PoE switch ports, which
allow administrators to schedule when power is delivered to each port. This is useful for
automatically powering down devices such as access points or IP phones outside of business hours,
reducing energy consumption without manual intervention.
When connected to a SonicWall next-generation firewall, the Switch 12-8-PoE is
auto-discovered and managed through the firewall's interface or via Network Security Manager in the
cloud. This provides centralized VLAN configuration, per-port PoE management, switch software upgrades
from the firewall, and unified security posture enforcement including IPS, application control, and
botnet filtering at the network edge.
The Switch 12-8-PoE has 8 copper ports with 802.3af PoE (up to 15.4W per port, 55W
total) and 2 SFP uplinks, powered by an external adapter. The Switch 12-10-FPoE has 10 copper ports
with 802.3af/at PoE+ (up to 30W per port, 130W total), 2 SFP uplinks, a built-in 180W power supply,
and 24 Gbps of switching capacity. Choose the 12-10-FPoE if you need more PoE watts per port or a
higher total PoE budget.
