Yes. The TZ580 supports an optional second power supply for redundancy, using SonicWall's shared Gen 8 TZ FRU power supply that also fits the TZ280, TZ380, TZ480, and TZ680. It's sold separately from the base appliance, so let us know if you want it added to your order.

Secure Upgrade Plus bundles are trade-in pricing that require an eligible existing SonicWall or competitor firewall, so they're not meant for a first-time TZ580 purchase. If you don't have a qualifying device to trade in, the TotalSecure Advanced Edition bundle is the one to buy, since it includes the new appliance and subscription with no trade-in required.

Yes. The TZ580 is a solid Gen 8 upgrade path for a TZ500 or TZ500 AC deployment, with meaningfully higher throughput and the newer SonicOS 8 platform. Since the TZ500 is several generations back, configuration won't transfer automatically, and our configuration services team can help rebuild your settings on the new unit.

The TZ580 includes 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports plus 2 multi-gig SFP+ uplinks (10G/5G/2.5G/1G), and it can manage up to 32 SonicWave access points directly from the firewall. Like the TZ480, the base TZ580 doesn't have built-in Wi-Fi. The TZ380W is currently the Gen 8 model with onboard wireless.

The TZ580 is the Gen 8 successor to the TZ570, running SonicOS 8 instead of SonicOS 7 with higher throughput across the board, 4.5 Gbps firewall inspection versus 4 Gbps, and 1.4 million max SPI connections versus 1.25 million. Both share a similar port layout, but the TZ580 adds multi-gig SFP+ options up to 10G instead of 5G.
