Fortinet 423E.
Indoor 4x4 MU-MIMO Access Point with External Antennas
The FortiAP 423E delivers the same high-performance, dual-radio 4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wave 2 platform as the
421E, but with external antenna connectors for custom coverage patterns and directional antenna options.
It's a strong fit for large indoor spaces — warehouses, gyms, and auditoriums — where fine-tuned
antenna placement matters. Note: the FortiAP 423E is an indoor-rated model, not an outdoor or weatherproof
access point.
No. The FortiAP 423E is an indoor access point. While it uses external antenna
connectors, the unit itself has no weatherproof enclosure or IP rating, so it should not be installed
outdoors.
The 423E and 421E share the same 4x4 MU-MIMO, 802.11ac Wave 2 radio performance.
Choose the 423E when you need external, directional, or high-gain antennas for irregular spaces like
warehouses or auditoriums; choose the 421E for a simpler internal-antenna install.
The 423E requires 802.3at PoE+ delivered through its GE RJ45 ports, supplied by a
PoE+ switch, injector, or a PoE+-capable FortiGate.
Yes. The 423E is centrally managed by the built-in WLAN controller on any FortiGate
firewall, or through the FortiLAN Cloud provisioning and management portal.
The 423E supports 802.11ac Wave 2 with dual concurrent dual-band radios and 4x4
MU-MIMO, the same radio platform used in the 421E.
