The FortiAP 231G is an enterprise-class indoor access point built for the 6 GHz era, pairing a tri-radio
2x2 Wi-Fi 6E design with dedicated 24/7 security scanning. Its 2.5GbE PoE uplink and dual-Ethernet diversity
make it a strong fit for offices and campuses that need extra spectrum headroom without wiring upgrades.
Centralized management through FortiGate or FortiLAN Cloud keeps rollouts simple.

Not sure the 231G is the right fit?
Compare Wi-Fi standards, radio counts, and PoE requirements across the full FortiAP lineup to find the
access point that matches your deployment.
The FortiAP 231G is a Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) access point with tri-radio support across
the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and new 6 GHz bands, giving it extra clean spectrum compared to standard Wi-Fi 6
APs.
The 231G requires 802.3at (PoE+) to power all three radios simultaneously. A standard
802.3af switch port may run the AP in a reduced-radio mode.
Yes. The 231G is managed centrally by the integrated wireless controller on any
FortiGate, or through the cloud-based FortiLAN Cloud portal for sites without an on-site FortiGate.
It includes a 2.5GbE LAN1/PoE port to keep pace with 6 GHz throughput, plus a
secondary 1GbE LAN2 port that can be used for Ethernet port diversity or a wired downstream device.
The 231G is designed for indoor deployments such as offices, classrooms, and retail
spaces that want to get ahead of 6 GHz device adoption without a major cabling upgrade.
