Fortinet 300D.
Legacy Data Center Application Delivery Controller (D-Series)
The FortiADC 300D is a previous-generation Fortinet application delivery controller from the D-series
lineup, originally built for mid-sized data center server load balancing and SSL offload. According to
publicly available Fortinet lifecycle trackers, Fortinet ended new sales of the 300D in August 2021, and
vendor support is scheduled to end in August 2026 — effectively the end of its supported life. The current
FortiADC catalog centers on the F-series (60F through 5000F), which succeeds the D-series with higher
throughput and modern SSL acceleration. The 300D may still be available on the secondary/refurbished market
for like-for-like replacement in existing 300D environments or budget-constrained lab use — new production
deployments should strongly consider a current-generation F-series model instead. Confirm exact support
status with Fortinet before purchasing.

Specifications
300D at a Glance
Performance (Legacy)
Layer 4 throughput up to 6 Gbps and Layer 7 throughput up to 4 Gbps,
with 725,000 Layer 7 requests per second — solid for its generation, but below current
F-series equivalents. Software-based SSL acceleration handles up to 1,500 SSL TPS at
2048-bit keys.
Load Balancing & SSL
Layer 4/7 load balancing with round robin, weighted round robin, least connections, and
shortest-response methods, plus included Global Server Load Balancing and Link Load Balancing. SSL offload throughput of
2.6 Gbps compression, with support for SSL forward proxy and HTTP/S mirroring for
inspection use cases.
Connectivity
4x GE RJ45 plus 4x GE SFP network interfaces in a 1U rack-mount
appliance, with 128 GB SSD onboard storage and support for up to
10 Virtual Domains. Management via HTTPS, SSH CLI, direct console, and SNMP.
High Availability & Form Factor
Supports active-active and active-passive HA failover. 1U rack-mount chassis with a
single power supply. Based on publicly available lifecycle records, Fortinet ended new sales in 2021 and
vendor support is set to end in 2026 — plan accordingly for new deployments.
Considering the 300D? See the Current-Gen Alternative First
The 300D is a discontinued D-series ADC nearing the end of its supported life. Compare it against current
FortiADC F-series models like the 100F and 200F for better throughput, modern SSL acceleration, and full
Fortinet support.
No. Based on publicly available Fortinet lifecycle records, the 300D reached end of
sale in August 2021 and vendor support is scheduled to end in August 2026. It is a legacy D-series
platform, superseded by the current F-series FortiADC lineup — confirm exact dates with Fortinet
before purchasing.
The 300D supports Layer 4 and Layer 7 load balancing using round robin, weighted
round robin, least connections, and shortest-response methods, along with Global Server Load Balancing
and Link Load Balancing.
For new deployments, Fortinet's current FortiADC F-series models (such as the 100F or
200F) are recommended, offering higher throughput, modern SSL acceleration, and full vendor support.
The 300D offloads up to 1,500 SSL transactions per second with 2048-bit keys using
software-based SSL acceleration, along with 2.6 Gbps of compression throughput.
Yes. The 300D supports both active-active and active-passive HA failover, though
buyers should weigh this against its approaching end-of-support date before relying on it for a new
production deployment.
