Cisco Meraki MS130.
Cloud-managed switching, built to scale.
The Cisco Meraki MS130 series is a cloud-managed Layer 2 access switch line built for branch and campus deployments,
powering access points, cameras, and IoT devices without extra injectors. A ruggedized MS130R model extends the same
feature set to outdoor cabinets, IP30 enclosures, and extreme-temperature environments.

Specifications
MS130 at a Glance
Ports & Uplinks
The MS130 lineup spans 8, 12, 24, and 48-port models with 10/100/1000 RJ45 access
ports. "X" variants (MS130-8X, 12X, 24X, 48X) add 100M/1G/2.5G mGig RJ45 ports and
10GbE SFP+ uplinks (2 to 4 ports) for higher-bandwidth aggregation to wireless APs,
servers, or upstream switches. Non-X models use 1GbE SFP uplinks instead.
PoE & Power
PoE models deliver 802.3bt PoE+ at up to 30W per port, with total
switch PoE budgets ranging from 120W (8-port models) to 740W
(MS130-48P/48X) — enough to power Wi-Fi 6/6E APs, PTZ cameras, and IP phones without external
injectors.
Performance & Architecture
As a Layer 2 access switch line, the MS130 offers non-blocking switching capacity from
20 Gbps on compact 8-port models up to 200 Gbps on the MS130-48X. 24
and 48-port models include a dedicated management interface. Note: the MS130 series does not support
physical or virtual stacking.
Cloud Management & Licensing
Every MS130 is 100% managed through the Meraki Dashboard — zero-touch
provisioning, remote packet capture, automatic firmware updates, and centralized VLAN/ACL policy. Each
switch requires an Enterprise or Advanced cloud license (1, 3, 5, 7, or 10-year terms), enabling
next-gen access switching as organizations move up from the MS120/MS125 lines.
Not sure which MS130 model fits your network?
Compare port counts, PoE budgets, and uplink options across every MS130 and MS130R model side by side to
find the right fit for your closet, campus, or outdoor deployment.
The "X" models (MS130-8X, 12X, 24X, 48X) add multi-gigabit (2.5G) RJ45 ports and
10GbE SFP+ uplinks, making them ideal for connecting Wi-Fi 6/6E access points or aggregating traffic
to a core switch. Standard models (MS130-8, 24, 48) use 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports with 1GbE SFP uplinks
instead, which is sufficient for typical wired access needs.
Yes. PoE-capable MS130 models (P and X variants) support 802.3bt PoE+ with up to 30W
available per port. Total switch PoE budgets range from 120W on 8-port models up to 740W on the
MS130-48P and MS130-48X, enough to power access points, IP phones, and PoE cameras directly from the
switch.
No. The MS130 series is a Layer 2 access switch line and does not support physical or
virtual stacking. Each switch is managed and monitored independently through the Meraki Dashboard.
Customers who need physical stacking should look at the Meraki MS210, MS225, or higher-tier switch
series.
Yes. Every MS130 requires an active Meraki cloud license (Enterprise or Advanced
tier) to operate, since the switch is fully managed through the Meraki Dashboard. Licenses are
available in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10-year terms (Advanced tops out at 5 years), and all MS130s within an
organization must use the same license tier.
The MS130R-8P is a ruggedized version of the MS130 built for outdoor cabinets,
industrial floors, and harsh environments. It carries an IP30 rating, operates across an extended
-40°C to 70°C range, and supports DIN rail, wall, and rack mounting, while delivering the same 8-port,
240W PoE budget and Meraki cloud management as its indoor counterpart.
