Both models provide 2TB of usable storage. The 290 ships in a 1U rack-mount enclosure and installs cleanly alongside other equipment in a server rack. The 295 ships in a compact desktop enclosure for offices that do not have or need a rack. Backup capacity and subscription features are the same on both.

Start with how much data you need to protect on-site. Barracuda publishes a recommended environment size for each model, which is roughly half of the usable on-disk capacity to leave room for deduplication and growth.
